Back in December, Everton were being linked with a move for Jean-Kevin Augustin. France Football reported that the talented Frenchman was one of the players being targeted as a potential striking recruit. However, no deal ever looked likely due to the apparent price-tag.
As reported by France Football, his German side RB Leipzig were said to want €40 million (£36 million) for the player.
That no longer looks like the case. The Sun journalist Alan Nixon sent out this tweet earlier today.
So, if Augustin is indeed a lot cheaper than initially noted, Everton should surely be in the hunt.
Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands has seemingly made it clear the club will not recruit new players in January.

However, based on recent performances, Everton need to make some changes. One of the key positions were strengthening is needed is in attack.
Richarlison is better from the left, Cenk Tosun barely used and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been in dreadful form this season.
Augustin would bring the pace and power that Everton need in attack and would undoubtedly be a brilliant recruit.
If Everton can talk Leipzig down to a reasonable price, Augustin is a must buy.
