Everton are reportedly interested in the signature of River Plate striker Rafael Santos Borre, according to reports in Argentina.
Several reports in Argentina, as cited by Sports Witness, have suggested Everton have made a €15 million (£12.8m) bid to sign the Colombian striker in January.
Santos Borre, who scored in River’s recent Copa Libertadores defeat to Flamengo, has scored seven goals in 11 games of River Plate’s Superliga season so far. Last term, he netted 11 goals in 37 games, including the Copa Libertadores run.

But a deal will not be straightforward for Everton. As reported by Antena2, the striker has a release clause of €30 million (£25.6m) that River are sticking to. They also report that the player is enjoying his current progress at the Argentine club and has no intention of leaving in January.
TBR’s View
There is no doubt that Santos Borre is a good player but Everton surely need to be targeting a player with a proven track record of scoring goals at this level.
The 24-year-old hardly set the world alight last season and struggled in his first European stint, scoring just four goals in 30 games for Villarreal.
If Everton could get him relatively cheap, then Santos Borre might be an interesting recruit. But if close to his release clause, Everton should move on to another target.
