Everton must not let Richarlison arrival see Ademola Lookman depart

Everton are about to blow their transfer record with the shock £50 million signature of Richarlison from Watford. The Brazilian is well known to new Everton boss Marco Silva and will be brought in to play from the left-hand side but also as another striking option.

But his signature is raising eyebrows. Not just because of the exorbitant fee Everton are paying, but for what it means for youngster Ademola Lookman.

The England youth international is wanted by Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, where he finished last term on loan. Everton fans, almost universally, want to see Lookman given a chance next season.

When looking at the stats from last season, it is clear to see why.

Richarlison stormed out the gates for Watford. The Brazilian netted five goals and provided five assists in his first 16 Premier League games. In the next 22, he managed to deliver none in either column.

“The most important thing is Lookman is our player, he is an Everton player and I want Lookman to stay in our squad.”

Meanwhile, Lookman provided four assists and five goals in just 11 Bundesliga games.

So selling Lookman, who Everton reportedly want £20m for, and bringing in Richarlison at a deficit of £30 million seems to make absolutely no sense for Everton.

Hopefully, both will be playing at Goodison Park next season.
