Everton must move for Sangare as PSG close in on Gueye

Everton appear to have lost the battle to keep Idrissa Gueye, with Sky Sports now reporting a £28 million deal with Paris Saint-Germain has been agreed for his transfer.

The Senegalese dynamo has long-been linked with a switch to the French champions, who pursued Gueye intensely back in January.

The Toffees were able to fend off PSG’s advances mid-season, but it looks like they will now be losing the former Aston Villa player.

Sky claim personal terms should not be an issue, with Gueye set to become their fifth capture of the summer so far.

This should be Everton’s cue to get to work on bringing reported target Ibrahim Sangare to the club.

TBR’s view

Sangare was linked with a move to Goodison Park last month.

The Toulouse ace would cost in the region of £22 million according to Goal France (via Daily Post) – which is a very reasonable figure for a player with great promise.

Everton may have signed Fabian Delph already but arguably he is not someone who can replace Gueye directly.

Sangare though, is that kind of player.

While Delph is known more for his passing, the 21-year-old has garnered a reputation over in France for being a fearsome and physical opponent.

According to WhoScored, Sangare made 3.6 tackles per 90 last term, which is only slightly worse than Gueye’s at 4.3. Delph by comparison, made 2.1.

He is a superb presser and tackler as Gueye is, but he is aactually quietly impressive technically as well.
