The 2018/19 campaign has proved pretty disappointing for Everton, with the club currently tenth in the Premier League.
Boss Marco Silva knows he must revive the club’s fortunes between now and the end of the season.
The summer can’t really come soon enough for Silva who will be desperate to reshape his squad.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Silva is keen on landing central defender Diego Llorente and will rival Liverpool for his signature.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form for Real Sociedad this season, playing 18 games in all competitions.
The fact that Silva is reportedly going to pursue a central defender doesn’t bode well for Yerry Mina.
The Colombian was tipped for big things at Goodison Park after a decent 2018 World Cup.
Things haven’t gone according to plan.
Mina has played just 10 games for the Toffees, proving largely disappointing.
With Kurt Zouma likely to return to Chelsea at the end of his loan, Silva needs someone reliable to go alongside Michael Keane.
Reliable is not a word that would be symbolic of Mina and Llorente would prove a safer bet.
Everton have conceded far too many goals this season and shoring up at the back is a must.
Mina’s Everton career will hang in the balance should the Toffees sign the Spaniard and he will go down as a massive flop on Merseyside.
