Mark Lawrenson has said in his weekly piece for the BBC Sport website that Everton could be the most likely team to break into the top six this season.
The Toffees splashed a bit of money in the summer and the ex-Liverpool man fancies them to have a good season.
Everton signed Moise Kean, Fabian Delph, Andre Gomes, Alex Iwobi, Jonas Lossl, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Djibril Sidibe.
Juventus striker Kean was the signing that caught the eye. He joined Everton from the Italian champions for £29 million (The Guardian).
Lawrenson has also had his say on that signing in his weekly piece.
He told BBC Sport: “Everton have picked up two clean sheets from their first two games. I also think they have got the best chance of breaking into the top six. Everyone talks about Leicester but Everton could do it.
“New signing Moise Kean is still young so you have to be patient with him. He has the ability and he’s like a new toy. How is he going to work?”
Everton’s next challenge comes this evening when they travel to Aston Villa.
TBR Verdict – Everton now well-equipped to break the top six
Everton have settled for bang average for far too long now and boss Marco Silva clearly wants to alter that.
You only have to look towards the list of summer signings to see that the boss is not in the mood for messing around anymore.
With two clean sheets in their first two fixtures, Everton look like they could be made of sterner stuff this season.
Of course, they will face tougher opposition along the way, but Silva now has all the tools to unleash an attack on the Premier League’s elite teams.
