Everton defender Lucas Digne is the best left-back in the Premier League, according to his agent Mikkel Beck.
The Frenchman has had a fine season at Goodison Park following his move from Barcelona last summer.
Digne has become a mainstay under Marco Silva after replacing Leighton Baines earlier on in the campaign.
Where a lot of his teammates have been somewhat inconsistent, Digne has been relatively solid all the way through, offering both defensive stability and attacking returns.
His form is no surprise to his agent, who believes Digne is statistically the best left-back in the Premier League.
He said, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo: “When you see the stats for this season then it shows you he is the best left-back in the Premier League this season. He has shown everything. He gives his team defensive reassurance and offensively he is like an attacker.”
There may well be some bias coming from Beck, but The Echo compared Digne to a number of players in his position in terms of shots, goals, assists, expected assists, pass accuracy, key passes, tackling success and interceptions.
Interestingly, Digne comes out on top in most of those categories, with Andy Robertson, Ben Chilwell, Luke Shaw and Danny Rose the selected comparisons.
Digne is undeniably up there as one of the best in his position, but whether he is currently better than Robertson is up for debate.
The Scotland captain – an £8 million purchase from Hull City (BBC Sport) – has been in superb form for the Reds and would be most neutrals’ pick as the league’s best left-back.
