Everton will not be appointing Vitor Pereira as their next manager, The Telegraph reports.
Pereira was ‘honoured’ to be considered for the Everton job and admits that he would reconsider in the future if the opportunity came knocking again. But he added that he is committed to his project with Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League.
The Portuguese manager has been with Shanghai since 2018. His previous roles include time in Germany, Turkey, Greece, Saudi Arabia and Portugal. But the 51-year-old is not ready for a Goodison Park switch.
Pereira on Everton links

Everton target Pereira said (via The Telegraph): “It’s always an honour and I am utterly grateful to be considered on a list by a club that I have so much respect for. At this point, I am still the coach of SIPG, a club close to my heart in a country that is growing immensely in football.
“Currently I am not in a position to make any other commitments. I cannot decide now, I need time to think and plan my future by looking to all the options I have. It’s a league I love and, yes, for sure, I would consider an opportunity in the future.”
TBR’s view
Pereira’s rejection means Everton are still on the lookout for Marco Silva’s replacement. But Duncan Ferguson winning his first game eases the pressure on the board to deliver a new manager quickly.
Ferguson might not be the best candidate for the long-term but Everton can enjoy his new manager bounce while looking at alternatives. With Pereira ruled out, Unai Emery or Ralf Rangnick might be next.
