Everton manager Marco Silva has been full of praise for left back Lucas Digne and says that he is an example to the rest of his team-mates.
As per the club’s official website, Silva has been impressed with the man he brought to Goodison Park and looks to him as a leader within the group now, as a deputy captain to Seamus Coleman.
Silva said: “Lucas has everything we expect from a professional football player, not just talking about his quality. He was one of my first targets. He is demanding, hungry to improve every day. He is a worker and he is fantastic. It is a pleasure to manage a player like him.
“He is a fantastic example. Lucas was an example every day at Finch Farm last season, so it was an easy choice to give him this (deputy captain) position… it is important to have these types of examples in important roles.”
TBR’s View – Digne a perfect example of Everton’s new transfer policy
Everton are relying on their transfer policy to elevate themselves into the top six and that puts the emphasis on Silva and Marcel Brands to deliver.
It’s hardly surprising that Digne was a player Silva wanted from the off and he has proved his quality since arriving on Merseyside.
Everton also need good characters in the squad if they are to realise their ambitions and it’s promising that Digne is that type and has relished the leadership role he has been given.
