Everton make seven-trophy manager their first-choice candidate to replace Sean Dyche

Everton have endured a difficult start to the season, picking up just five points from their opening seven Premier League games.

Admittedly, the Toffees’ form has picked up in recent weeks. All the points they have picked up have been in their last three games.

However, with a takeover now on the cards for Everton, there could well be a change in the dugout, as is often the case when a new owner takes charge.

The Friedkin Group are set to take over the Toffees, with Farhad Moshiri close to selling his majority stake in the club and Dan Friedkin hoping to be in post by December.

Now, a report has emerged claiming that the Blues have set their sights on a manager with seven trophy wins to his name as Sean Dyche’s replacement.

Everton eyeing Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Sean Dyche replacement

The coach in question is Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who is currently in charge of Turkish giants Besiktas.

According to Turkish outlet Dirilis Postasi, the Dutchman is Everton’s first-choice candidate to replace Dyche in the Goodison Park hotseat.

The newspaper claims Dyche’s sacking is a near-certainty and also reported that the Toffees have already approached Van Bronckhorst.

Although the 49-year-old turned Everton down on that occasion, he ‘will give the green light’ should his ‘turbulent process’ at Besiktas continues, added the report.

Van Bronckhorst may split opinion among Everton fans

Van Bronckhorst has a fairly impressive CV in terms of trophies win.

He has lifted one Eredivisie title, two Dutch Cups and two Dutch Super Cups with Feyenoord, as well as one Turkish Super Cup with Besiktas.

Van Bronckhorst also managed Rangers, where he has a Scottish Cup to his name, and also played in a Europa League final with the Scottish side.

However, he failed to seriously challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title and was eventually sacked by the Gers.

In addition, Van Bronckhorst doesn’t have Premier League experience, which would make him a bit of a gamble for a Toffees side that has battled relegation in recent seasons.

With that in mind, he could well split opinion among Everton fans.

Besides, Dyche has done fairly well in his time at Goodison, and with the stadium move looming, it makes more sense to stick than twist for now.
