Everton make enquiry about Davide Calabria who could pave the way for Mason Holgate’s permanent exit

Everton have been linked with a number of right-backs with Marco Silva seemingly unsure about his options in that department.

Seamus Coleman is the regular starter in the right-back spot but he is now in his 30s and he needs a long-term successor.

Young duo Mason Holgate and Jonjoe Kenny have threatened to oust Coleman in recent years but neither has made the step up permanently.

Kenny has drifted in and out of the first-team picture, while Holgate is out on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

Holgate, 22, is wanted by West Brom on a permanent deal, according to The Birmingham Mail. And his permanent Everton exit could be on the cards if the Toffees snap up their latest target.

According to Italian media outlet Milan News, Everton have “requested information” about AC Milan defender Davide Calabria.

Manchester United are also keen on the Italy under-21 captain but Everton might be tempted to firm up their interest with a concrete offer.

Calabria may be young but he has already played almost 80 games at senior level for AC Milan, including 60 Serie A matches.

The 22-year-old could be the long-term replacement for Coleman but if he moves to Everton, where does that leave Holgate?

Marco Silva could be looking to permanently offload Holgate if he brings in a new right-back with West Brom lurking.
