Everton are reportedly chasing one of Europe’s hottest prospects. Rafael Leao is an exciting young striker and The Daily Mail claims that Everton want him.

Leao currently plays for LOSC Lille in Ligue 1 and is a regular fixture in the first-team despite his young age.

The 19-year-old has started 15 league matches this season and scored seven goals to show just how much potential he has.

Everton fans should be getting excited about the possibility of signing Leao, who has been dubbed “the new Kylian Mbappe”, as reported by a BBC Sport article.

On the Euro Leagues podcast, French journalist Julien Laurens tells BBC Sport: “He plays on his own up front, he’s strong and quick, he’s a good finisher and he’s only 19. They call him the Portuguese Mbappe. He’s certainly one to keep an eye on in the future.”

Of course, comparisons are always difficult because the youngster will now play with an expectation that he hits the top level.

But so far, the talented teenager has taken everything in his stride and is proving his worth in one of Europe’s top leagues.

The Portugal under-21 international is also wanted by Manchester City (The Daily Mail) but Everton’s striker situation offers him a unique situation.

At such a young age, he could be a regular starter for an ambitious Premier League side. And this would be a major coup if the Toffees pull it off.
