Everton linked Jesus Corona earns recognition for midweek display

Porto star Jesus Corona was reportedly on the radar of Premier League outfit Everton in the summer as Carlo Ancelotti set about rebuilding his squad.

Portuguese outlet A Bola claimed that Wolves were also interested in the player who was being closely monitored by the Toffees.

Corona has a £27 million release clause in his contract and that clearly alerted clubs towards him during the recent transfer window.

His valuation is starting to look like a bit of a steal.

The 27-year-old was in superb form during his side’s midweek Champions League win against Marseille.

Corona operated on the right-hand side of a four-man midfield as Porto ran out 3-0 winners over the Ligue 1 team.

Remarkably he claimed assists for all three goals, giving his team a real chance of qualification from Group C.

Corona was named as the Who Scored Man of the Match for his performance and was also named in the Sofa Score Team of the Week.

The Mexican player completed no fewer than five dribbles during the 90 minutes and finished with a pass success ratio of 88% (Who Scored).

Corona has 42 caps for his country and on current form, he might have proved a decent addition to the Everton squad.

Ancelotti nailed his recruitment in the summer with James Rodriguez, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey all improving the squad.

There is enough to suggest that Corona might be a player who could still complement Everton nicely, however.

He can play in a number of positions and his three tackles against Marseille highlight that he’s not afraid to do the ugly stuff too.

On current form, Ancelotti might be monitoring Corona even closer ahead of the January window.
