Everton are reportedly interested in Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir from Ligue 1 side Lyon ahead of the summer.
According to Calciomercato, the Merseyside club are eyeing the highly-rated 25-year-old that helped France win the World Cup last summer.
The attacker’s contract with Lyon is due to expire in 2020, which could leave Lyon in a precarious position with their talisman at the end of the season.
Fekir has scored 12 goals and supplied seven assists in just 30 games across all competitions this season, which included some eye-catching performances in the Champions League before being dumped out by Barcelona.
He is a versatile dazzler that can play in the number 10 role or on the wing and is renowned for his quick feet plus eye for goal.
Everton’s mooted interest is highly ambitious ahead of next year and whether they could attract someone of his calibre remains to be seen, but one of their players should perhaps be fearful.
Gylfi Sigurdsson is someone that should not be too pleased to hear of Everton lining up a top-class playmaker.
The 29-year-old is a regular starter at Goodison Park under Marco Silva and the number 10 position behind the striker is his.
He’s managed 12 goals and four assists in 33 Toffees games this campaign, but has been a streaky player and lacked consistency.
If Everton somehow managed to pull off a deal for someone like Fekir, it would surely be Sigurdsson that was barged to one side and perhaps be played out of position.
