Everton have no need to buy Emil Forsberg with Gylfi Sigurdsson around

Everton have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Swedish international Emil Forsberg at the end of the season. SportBild has reported in their print edition this week, as relayed by Sport Witness, that Forsberg is being offered to other clubs for a fee in the region of €20 million (£17m).

Everton, should, of course, be interested in such a deal. Forsberg is a very talented player who just a couple of years ago was being linked with Europe’s elite.

That was evident in April 2017, as Forsberg led the assist charts in Europe’s big leagues with 13 for RB Leipzig, who were at the time chasing Carlo Ancelotti’s Bayern Munich.

However, the player behind him on that assist chart is a major reason why Everton need not make this transfer happen.

It was that form in South Wales which convinced Everton into spending a reported (The Guardian) £45 million on the Icelandic international that summer.

The pair are very similar players. Best suited in an attacking playmaker free-role, both have incredible vision and deceptive dribbling skills.

However, both often end up playing out of position wide left where they lack the pace to truly influence a game.

The point is, Everton already have a player who can do everything Forsberg can. The Toffees would be better off spending their money elsewhere.
