Everton goalkeeper Jonas Lossl reportedly took a pay-cut in order to leave Goodison Park to join Huddersfield Town last month.

Jordan Pickford has featured in all 31 of Everton’s games so far, despite having never really shown his best form in 2019/20.

It was therefore decided that Lossl would rejoin his former club Huddersfield in a bid to boost his Euro 2020 prospects.

And Terriers boss Danny Cowley has explained that Lossl actually dropped his wages in order to play for the Championship side, who recently lost Kamil Grabara to injury.

He said (Examiner Live): “We have to thank Jonas in that because Jonas has actually taken a bit of a pay cut as well to make it happen, he wanted it to happen that much.”

It is a big few months for him given the European Championships are this summer, and it has been clear Pickford is the main man at Goodison Park.

Lossl wasn’t even given any opportunities to feature in cup matches, which must have set alarm bells ringing.

Lossl has a contract with Everton until 2022, so his current spell with Huddersfield is a chance for him to prove himself as someone worthy of actually playing games next season.
