Everton signing Danny Welbeck for nothing would be fantastic business.
As reported by The Mirror, the Arsenal forward is no nearer to resolving his contract situation at the Emirates Stadium, and the Toffees are keeping tabs on him.
As things currently stand, Welbeck will become a free agent at the end of the 2018/19 season.

The former Manchester United striker will be free to hold talks with clubs overseas in January about a free transfer.
Welbeck has been in good form this season, scoring four goals – three of which have come in his last five outings.
He has not set the world alight during his time as an Arsenal player, but has proven a handy player for the Gunners at times since his arrival in 2014.
Great business
Everton were linked with a move for Welbeck in the summer, but should definitely revive their interest in January.
Surely Welbeck is worth taking a punt on if no transfer fee is involved.
If he is signed and made the main man by Marco Silva, he could do a job for the Toffees.
Cenk Tosun has not pulled up trees since joining the club from Galatasaray.

Oumar Niasse works hard, but perhaps doesn’t show enough quality in front of goal.
And youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin arguably still hasn’t justified his place in the first-team.
Walcott factor
Theo Walcott is proof that an Arsenal player moving to Goodison Park can work.

The winger seems totally rejuvenated on Merseyside, and has started the 2018/19 season very brightly with two goals and two assists in the Premier League.
Perhaps the Toffees can use the Walcott factor to lure Welbeck, who probably does need a change of environment at this point.
