Watford star Gerard Deulofeu celebrated his 25th birthday on Wednesday – and Everton fans took to Twitter to congratulate him, as well as urge him to return to Goodison Park.
Spaniard Deulofeu has had a somewhat interesting career so far. Still particularly young, he came through Barcelona’s youth academy before breaking into the senior side. He went on loan to Everton in the summer of 2013.
Still only a teenager, he impressed with four goals and five assists in 29 games. He returned to Barca and went on loan to Sevilla, but was signed permanently by Everton a season later.
An inexplicable decision to send him on loan to AC Milan came in January 2017, before Barca re-signed him in that summer. He was then offloaded to Watford last summer for a fee believed to be £11.5million (Telegraph).
He has since shone for the Hornets. Having a hand in 14 goals in just 30 games, his blistering pace and raw skill has now been added to a new maturity and footballing knowledge.
Everton fans reacted to the news that it was his birthday on Wednesday, and many are desperate to see the in-form wide man return to Merseyside sooner rather than later. Others expressed their regret at letting him go.
