Everton host Sheffield United on Saturday in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter want midfielder Tom Davies recalled.
The 21-year-old has been a fringe player so far this season, with his only appearance coming off the bench for a late cameo against Crystal Palace on the opening day.
He’s an academy graduate that has played 90 senior games for the Toffees, but has fallen down the pecking order under current boss Marco Silva and is enduring a difficult campaign so far.
The Englishman is a box-to-box central midfielder with a lot of potential, but his form did drop off last season and he’s paying the price right now.
The Merseyside club host newly-promoted Sheffield United at the weekend and it’s a game they need three points in.
Everton were beaten 3-1 away at Bournemouth last weekend to continue the trend of inconsistency, but they need to beat lesser opponents if they have serious European ambitions.
A selection of Everton supporters on social media believe that Davies needs a first start of the season against Sheffield United.
Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin were the starting midfield pair against Bournemouth, so would Silva be prepared to axe one of them?
Here are some Everton fans on Davies:
Changes have to be made and that would be a great start! 💙

Can we PLEASE see Davies against Sheffield United

Should be Davies in for Delph. Schneiderlin has been quality with an attacking midfielder next to him

Would you give Sidibe a go? I’d play Tom Davies over Schneiderlain as well, at least he shows for the ball and looks interested. Reckon Delph would do TD well playing alongside him

Tom Davies over Schneiderlin all day long for me. He did a good job for England in that position earlier in the week.

This is how I would line up Vs. Sheffield United at home on Saturday; (4-3-3) Pickford, Sidibé, Keane, Mina, Digne (c), Davies, Delph, Bernard, Richarlison, Kean, Iwobi. #EFC
