Everton fans want Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa to replace Real Madrid-bound Carlo Ancelotti

The reports of Carlo Ancelotti’s immediate exit surfaced on Tuesday afternoon. Then, on Tuesday evening, it was confirmed. Ancelotti has left Everton and return to Real Madrid. The Italian previously managed the club between 2013 and 2015 – and has now replaced Zinedine Zidane. Everton fans want Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa as their next manager.

Ancelotti had been previously linked with a return. But with Mauricio Pochettino’s said to be disillusioned at Paris Saint-Germain, and Antonio Conte leaving Inter Milan – Ancelotti was some way down the list. Conte has left Inter only days after winning the Serie A title, so he was the obvious choice.

But since when do Real Madrid do anything by the norm? Conte has been overlooked, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. They said Ancelotti has been drafted in and an announcement could be made as early as Tuesday. Not long later, Ancelotti’s move was announced. It leaves Everton, surprisingly, in the lurch and without a manager.

So, where now for the Toffees? Well, there are numerous gaffers out there with Premier League experience, looking for a job. Eddie Howe, Frank Lampard and Nuno Espirito Santo have all been linked since the reports of Ancelotti’s exit emerged. But Everton fans want someone else.

Celtic fans left short-changed by Sky Sports once again

Bielsa has said he will not leave Leeds to join another English club – but could Everton change that?

Indeed, the loyal Argentine has said he will never manage another English club – other than Leeds. Now at 65 years of age, Bielsa is entering the last few years of his managerial career. While he remains out of contract at Leeds from June 30 – his style is to sign a new one-year deal every summer.

The CEO at Leeds, Angus Kinnear, recently stated in his programme notes that Bielsa had been planning for this summer’s window with Victor Orta. To outsiders, including Everton fans, his contract situation might promise a bit of hope to Everton should they consider a move to hire him.

However, Bielsa has made it abundantly clear he will only manage Leeds in England. He has also stated that he wants to remain at Leeds for the rest of his career, and if Andrea Radrizzani needs him to sign a new deal earlier – he will. There is simply no chance of Bielsa leaving Leeds, or is there?

What are Everton fans saying about Bielsa as their next manager?

Could the size of Everton, and financial backing of the Merseyside club, convince Bielsa to change his mind? Certainly, he does not get the nickname El Loco for being boring. If any Premier League manager is to make surprise decisions, £115,000-a-week (Star) Bielsa is certainly up there.

Everton do have bigger spending power than Leeds. While they have missed out on European football again, they are also planning for the move to a new, bigger stadium – and their fanbase is much like Leeds. Passionate, devoted, and in their drones. Bielsa would enjoy the similarities.

But his loyalties remain to Leeds despite his lack of contract beyond June. Everton fans, regardless of that, are desperate to see their club test the resolve around Bielsa and Leeds – and look to lure him to Goodison.
