Everton’s U23 team beat Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League 2 with goals from Lewis Gibson and Ellis Simms. After the game, Everton fans were calling for a number of first-team promotions with Simms and Anthony Gordon getting a lot of mentions.
Simms and Gordon combined for Everton’s 80th-minute winner last night. Gordon showed excellent skill to wriggle away from his marker and he slipped a perfect through ball for Simms to latch onto and score.

Both players are attackers and they will be hoping to push for first-team spots at some point. Marco Silva will be weighing up his options after the disappointing 3-1 loss at Bournemouth and Everton’s youngsters are in with a shout.
Gordon, 18, added to his burgeoning reputation with an impressive assist last night. That takes his tally to five goals and two assists in five matches this season. Meanwhile, Simms got off the mark this season. The 18-year-old is very highly rated at Everton.
Here are some tweets from Toffees fans calling for Simms and Gordon to get a first-team chance at some point soon.
