Everton’s under-21s defeated Mansfield Town in the EFL Trophy last night on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time. It was a tough task for the Everton youngsters but they did a fine job against impressive League Two opposition.
Everton also had to fight on for 20 minutes with just ten men, after Beni Baningime picked up a second yellow card.
The player of the night was undoubtedly Anthony Gordon once again as he scored a sublime goal for the Everton youngsters.
The 18-year-old evades several challenges before curling home a superb effort from 25 yards to continue his fine recent form.

Gordon scored twice against Arsenal in PL2 action earlier in the week and has been training with Marco Silva’s first-team after an impressive pre-season.
His form is certainly highlighting why the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich were so keen on the player, according to the Daily Mail, last year.
Everton fans are certainly impressed and many would even like to see Gordon given a chance against Lincoln City in the EFL Cup tonight.
That seems unlikely considering his excursions yesterday but there is no doubt Everton have a top young talent on their radar…
