Phil Jagielka is reportedly training with Burnley to keep up his fitness – and some Everton fans on Twitter are not pleased that their former player is not training with them.
The 36-year-old defender became a free agent this summer after exiting the Toffees and he spent 12 years as a player at Goodison Park.
He’s yet to be snapped up by a new club, but the Lancashire Telegraph reports that he is training with Burnley.
It is understood that Burnley aren’t interested in signing the centre-back, but are allowing him to keep up fitness as his search for a new team continues.
Jagielka is a veteran defender that turns 37 in August, but was a brilliant servant on Merseyside and a key figure as captain for a large spell of that.
He still impressed in the seven first-team appearances he made last season for Marco Silva’s side and it looks like he will continue playing.
A selection of Everton supporters on social media are upset that the defender is not training with them and feel a club icon like him is entitled to that.
It’s unclear on if the Toffees did in fact offer the former England international the chance to train with them, but regardless the news that he’s at Burnley has not gone down well.
Here are some Everton fans on Jagielka:
Shocking from us if we didn’t invite him at least

I expect he would be welcome to train at Finch Farm but how embarrassed would he feel turning up somewhere he’s not longer wanted. He probably wants a fresh start
