Everton fans upset as Crystal Palace near key appointment
Crystal Palace are edging closer to the appointment of Lucien Favre as their new manager – much to the dismay of Everton supporters.
The Guardian claims that the former Dortmund incumbent is set to replace Roy Hodgson as the new Eagles boss.
Meanwhile, Everton remain without a manager. Rafa Benitez and Nuno Espirito Santo are two to have been heavily linked but so far no appointment has been made.
Favre looks an exciting addition for Palace. He left Dortmund last December with a win ratio of 61.82%.
The Swiss manager has also led Borussia Monchengladbach, Hertha Berlin and Nice during his time in coaching.
He will arrive at Selhurst Park looking to progress Palace as a club, with Everton fans awaiting to discover who they will get.
It seems many fancied Favre. Following the news which broke last night, the Toffees faithful have been up in arms.
After racing out of the blocks last season, Everton were forced to settle for a tenth place finish.
Carlo Ancelotti then shocked Goodison Park by announcing his intentions to return to Real Madrid.
Now, Everton must seek a replacement. For whatever reason, the hierarchy seem incapable of landing a manager and the wait goes on.
Favre could have been ideal for Everton
The 63-year-old could have proved an astute appointment by the Toffees.
He is a man who is vastly experienced and one who hasn’t long been out of work at a top European club.
His win ratio has been pretty strong wherever he has been and his team’s typically play decent football.
Everton fans certainly would have welcomed him. Following the news which emerged yesterday, plenty of supporters have been reacting on Twitter.
It seems as though some feel the club should have done more to rival Palace for his signature and lure him to Goodison Park.
Here is what the fan base had to say, with Favre set to be announced at Selhurst Park.
