Everton fans slate Morgan Schneiderlin’s performance in 1-0 defeat at Liverpool

Everton have an awful record against bitter rivals Liverpool, especially at Anfield, but yesterday’s FA Cup third round clash marked a new low.

The Reds fielded a shadow squad of academy graduates and reserves, against which Carlo Ancelotti fielded a senior side with just the two changes from the match against Manchester City.

Everton should have been ahead by half time but after the interval, Liverpool’s youngsters dominated the match and Curtis Jones’ stunner clinched a 1-0 victory.

The result underlined the sheer scale of the job Carlo Ancelotti has taken on and was a hugely embarrassing one for many of Everton’s experienced players.

None moreso than Morgan Schneiderlin. Spotrac report he earns £100,000 every week at Goodison Park and he was dominated at Anfield yesterday.

There were plenty of Everton fans queuing up to slate his performance in the heart of midfield, culminating in his lack of effort to stop Jones scoring.

It felt like a new low for Everton yesterday and plenty of supporters were rightly absolutely furious with their side for blowing an opportunity as good as they could possibly ask for to break their Anfield hoodoo.
