Everton fans slam ‘Sunday league player’ Michael Keane

Michael Keane completed 90 minutes in the loss to Southampton in the Premier League – and some Everton fans on Twitter raged at his overall performance.

Marco Silva’s team continued their inconsistent form by suffering a 2-1 loss at St Mary’s, which leaves them 11th in the league table and a little short of expectations.

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored a late equaliser for the visitors, but the contest was over due to a strike from Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse and an own goal by Lucas Digne.

A selection of Everton fans on social media picked out Keane for major criticism for his display in the league defeat.

The 26-year-old defender has got back towards his best form this season under Silva and consolidated his spot in the starting XI, but couldn’t prevent the result at Southampton.

He was below his usual standard very much like many of his teammates and the club now have just one clean sheet in their last 10 league games, which is an alarming statistic Silva needs to address quickly.
