Everton fans should remember the name Thomas Cannon after impressive start to season
Everton have produced some top talent over the years and in recent times their youth teams have been some of the best in the country. Indeed, the under-23s have won two of the last three PL2 titles.
Whilst many of those top youngsters have struggled to break into the first-team, Everton fans should be keeping an eye out on several of their current young talents.
One such player is Thomas Cannon. The 16-year-old from Aintree stepped into the under-18 set-up at Everton toward the end of last season, scoring against Manchester United in an epic 5-4 win in April.
This season he has taken the place of Ellis Simms in the under-18’s striker role after his progression to the under-23s. Simms scored 37 goals for the under-18s last season so Cannon has quite the boots to fill. That said, he is certainly on course.
Cannon has scored eight goals in five games for the under-18s so far this season. Four of those came in the 10-0 thrashing of Sunderland earlier this month and he also bagged a double against Manchester United last weekend.
He is a lethal finisher with pace and strength, with a playing style not dissimilar to current England captain Harry Kane and he has every chance of becoming a future Everton star.
Everton fans should keep an eye on his goal tally this season, as it could go on to be quite extraordinary.
