Everton reportedly have West Ham boss David Moyes on their managerial shortlist- and some Toffees fans on Twitter claim they want to see him return to Goodison Park.

58-year-old Scotsman Moyes was previously in charge of the Merseyside club for 11 years. Eventually, he left for Manchester United.

According to the Times, Everton will consider him as one of the main targets they want to fill the vacant position at Goodison Park.

The Toffees are now searching for a new manager after Carlo Ancelotti’s departure yesterday.

Ancelotti left Everton to join Real Madrid on Tuesday, with the news breaking extremely quickly. The Italian leaves after a 10th-placed finish in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Moyes guided West Ham to sixth in the league standings, and it means they will have European football at the London Stadium next season.

David Moyes at Everton should stay in the past, but fans disagree

A selection of Everton supporters on social media want Moyes to make a return.

Certainly, Moyes is a proven Premier League manager with a great CV. It’s pleasing to see him back to his best again.

He’s building a West Ham side completely in his image, and it would be bizarre to exit that project now after he’s just helped them qualify for Europe.

Firstly, he’s now got a chance to take charge of West Ham in the Europa League. Secondly, he’s 18 months into a reign where he’s combining a squad together. Finally, relighting old flames at Everton could end in disaster.

The pressure is really on for whoever takes charge next at Everton.

Everton need someone who can pick up the baton to carry on the Ancelotti project, but plenty feel a safe pair of hands is the way to go about things.
