Gylfi Sigurdsson completed 90 minutes in the defeat to Southampton on Saturday – and some of the Everton fans on Twitter annihilated him for the quality of his performance.
The Toffees slipped to a 2-1 away defeat at St Mary’s in the Premier League, which means they have now lost three of their last four league fixtures to take away their momentum.
Midfielder James Ward-Prowse scored the vital opener in the second-half for the hosts, as he unleashed an unstoppable effort from 20 yards into the top corner.
Lucas Digne then netted an unfortunate own goal soon after to leave the Merseyside club in the bottom half of the league table and they missed the chance to climb up to eighth.
Sigurdsson did pull back a late consolation with his side-footed effort in stoppage time, but he had been criticised heavily from supporters for his overall contribution and one even claimed they would prefer ex-player Ross Barkley at Goodison Park.

Sigurdsson is an ever-present in the XI under manager Marco Silva, but a selection of fans on social media were not pleased with his latest display for them.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder was unable to prevent his side losing and wasn’t quite at the races.
He has managed a decent return of 10 goals across all competitions this season, but Everton are clearly missing a focal point to play off in attack.
