Everton fans rip into Dominic Calvert-Lewin after his England Under-21 performance

Dominic Calvert-Lewin played 90 minutes in the England Under-21s defeat to Romania on Friday – and some Everton fans on Twitter ripped into their now player for his performance.

The Young Lions crashed out of the Under-21s European Championships after losing their two opening group games.

Aidy Boothroyd’s side were beaten 4-2 by Romania and all six goals came in a chaotic final 15 minutes.

Leicester CIty’s Demarai Gray and Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham had each score equalising goals for England, but eventually Romania added another two unanswered strikes to win.

Calvert-Lewin lead the line for England, but substitute teammate Abraham had a much greater impact in attack when he entered the action.

A selection of Everton fans were highly critical of their centre-forward for his display, as he was unable to get on the scoresheet.

The 22-year-old proved why he’’s got the reputation of a hard worker by running the channels and holding the ball up, but he’s got a reoccurring problem of not scoring enough.

He scored just eight goals in 38 games across all competitions last season for the Merseyside club and doesn’t look ready to be the main man in Marco Silva’s team next year.

Here are some Everton fans commenting on Calvert-Lewin:
