Andre Gomes has issued a rallying cry ahead of Everton’s upcoming fixture – and some of the club’s supporters have reacted with anger on Twitter and want to see some action on the pitch.
The Toffees have had a shocking start to the season and sit 18th in the Premier League table as it stands.
They have had the international break to try regroup and host West Ham on Saturday afternoon in their ninth league game of the season.
Marco Silva’s second campaign in charge couldn’t have started much worse and he desperately needs his players to dig him out of trouble with a top performance against the Hammers.
The Merseyside club lost at home to West Ham last season 3-1, but did win the reverse fixture 2-0 at the London Stadium.
Portuguese midfielder Gomes has sent out a message ahead of the weekend’s fixture.
“We all know how important the next games are. We’re working hard so we can invert the bad results and climb to the place we belong. Saturday, we’re counting on your support as always,” Gomes wrote on his personal Twitter account.
A selection of Everton supporters on social media have snapped back and are growing extremely frustrated with their team’s efforts this season.
They have lost four consecutive league matches and found themselves sliding down the top-flight table.
Gomes has played just six minutes of football in that time due to injury, but the 26-year-old should be back pushing for a starting spot against West Ham.
Here are some Everton fans responding to his tweet:
Zzzzz….counting on the fans who ALWAYS turn up…well let me tell you the fans are counting on the players who very raely do…especially this season

Fans will always back the players. Will always travel in numbers Andre but this season has been embarrassing. Make sure we get back to winning ways!!

Talk is cheap. Do yours on the pitch.
PS – try and stay fit for more than 10 minutes too 👍

Love you to bits and I’m ecstatic you are back, but as fans we are (mostly) fed up with these types of comments followed my spineless performances on the pitch then more hollow comments about “moving forward together” bin these off and do your talking on the pitch. 4wins needed.

The fans have been there all season. The players look as though they don’t know what they are doing. The manager is the problem. Formation and tactics are all wrong. The players owe the fans a performance.

Would be good if everybody turned up, the team included and turned this around. Fed up of Everton ruining my weekends, please give us a happy weekend 👍💙
