Everton fans reluctant to offload Joe Williams amid interest

Everton have reportedly received bids for their young midfielder Joe Williams – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded by stating it would be a mistake to lose him.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Toffees have fielded offers for the 22-year-old from unnamed clubs in the Bundesliga and also the Championship.

It is understood that Everton manager Marco Silva rates the academy graduate, but he faces huge competition to break into the first team and offers from elsewhere may interest him.

The central midfielder spent last season out on loan in the Championship, where he suffered relegation from Bolton Wanderers.

He may not have had the best time experiencing relegation, but had plenty of first-team action and is back on Merseyside this summer.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media believe that the club should stand firm over Williams and ignore bids for him this summer.

The midfielder will have some task breaking into senior contention, as the likes of Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies and Kieran Dowell may stand in front of him.

Another loan deal away from Goodison Park could perhaps extend his stay, but it looks like he’s beginning to reach a stage where it’s now or never.
