Yesterday it was reported by the Telegraph that Everton have decided to give Morgan Schneiderlin another chance to shine at Goodison Park. The report claims that Marco Silva is ready to keep the player at the club, despite a poor 2017-18 for the club.
The Frenchman was signed in January 2017 from Manchester United. The fee was reported to be in the region of £24 million and he went on to have an immediate impact at the club.
He formed an excellent partnership in midfield with Idrissa Gana Gueye and Everton fans were very pleased with their new arrival.
But things swiftly changed in the 2017-18 campaign. Schneiderlin struggled at the start of the season under Ronald Koeman and continued to put in poor performances throughout the season.
The 28-year-old quickly became one of the main objects of Everton fan vitriol, along with Ashley Williams, after several below-par performances. It was also his attitude which seemed to irk Everton fans.
The Frenchman often looked disinterested in games, which did not sit well with the Goodison faithful.
Despite some improved performances under Sam Allardyce toward the end of the season, fans at Everton were still hopeful of seeing the back of the midfielder this summer.
Here is some of the best reaction to the news he is set to stay…
If Marco Silva thinks Morgan Schneiderlin is worth keeping after this season, that is a little worrying.
If he gets him back to first season form, would you take that?

Schneiderlin should be added to that list tbh why give him a second chance he is awful

If Schneiderlin is staying there is no chance we will get William Carvalho. #EFC

A bit of a mad situation regarding Schneiderlin, he’s clearly got the ability and is a very capable footballer, but his attitude stinks the place out.
If Marco Silva can get the best out of him on a consistent basis #EFC have got a player on their hands. Very big if, though.

Is there any proof that Schneiderlin actually wanted to leave or was it just a story? He’s our best midfielder on his day I’m not against him staying

This reads as an indication that they’d rather give Schneiderlin a fresh start as opposed to spending money to replace him when that money could be used for other positions of need. #EFC https://t.co/9RQCwPapsf

Not Morgan Schneiderlin’s biggest fan and if he wants to leave Everton, he can.
However, always felt he could be the one player in the squad to fit easily into Marco Silva’s style of play.
Just needs to sort his attitude out.

Of course I agree but Schneiderlin hasn’t got a great attitude decent player bad attitude and he got himself deliberately sent off against Lyon
— Soph (@SophGallagher4) June 14, 2018
We shouldn’t even consider keeping Schneiderlin. He downed tools last season only putting in any effort in the last few games to impress a potential buyer .He’s stated he wants to leave ,we don’t need that attitude at the club.

Everton round-up: Juanpe wanted, Schneiderlin exit route and Carvalho blow
All the latest news and gossip from Premier League side Everton.
Juanpe a target
Everton are looking at Juanpe of Girona as a potential transfer target this summer. The defender was first targeted by Steve Walsh and has been in fine form for the La Liga side.
The Toffees, according to RAC Sports 1, made a bid for the player under the guidance of former director of football Walsh. That was said to be a deal in the region of £4.4 million. The player has a release clause of £8.8 million, so double will be needed for Everton to get their hands on the player.
Everton are on the hunt for new defenders this summer as they look to reshape their weak back-line.
Unpopular with fans, Morgan Schneiderlin is set to get another chance at Everton next season.
However, Marseille are said to be keen on his signature. The French giants are looking at potential replacements should they lose one of Morgan Sanson or Zambo Anguissa this summer.
One name that has come up is Schneiderlin, a boyhood Marseille fan. According to France Football, as reported by Sport Witness, he is one of the names Marseille are considering.
Schneiderlin joined Everton in a £22 million deal in January 2017.
Everton may have missed out on William Carvalho, according to reports in Italy. Corriere dello Sport are suggesting Inter Milan may have won the race for the Portugal international.
The report suggests a €2.5m-a-year (£2.2 million) deal is in place to take Carvalho to the San Siro.
The midfielder has rescinded his contract at Sporting Lisbon after an incident involving a mob of fans and has been tracked by Everton for some time.
Everton remain keen on Steve Walsh target Juanpe and he’d be an £8.8m bargain
Everton need new centre-backs this summer.
Everton are reportedly interested in Girona defender Juanpe, according to reports in Spain this week. Fichajes relays the information that Everton, along with German side Freiburg, are keen on signing the talented central defender. The report claims the 27-year-old star has a release clause in the region of €10 million (£8.8 million). A report from RAC Sports 1 has stated that Everton offered €5 million (£4.4 million) for the player when Steve Walsh was at Goodison Park and maintain their interest.
Juanpe has had an excellent season with Girona. He played 35 games for the club last season and excelled at the back for the side, who finished 10th in La Liga last season. Not only is he a brilliant defender, but he is also a threat going forward, scoring five goals last season. For many La Liga fans, he is one of the most underrated defenders in the Spanish top flight.
Everton need a new defender in the summer and have been linked with big money moves for the likes of Jamaal Lascelles and Matthijs De Ligt. So bringing in Juanpe may seem like a lack of ambition from Everton.
However, he would be an absolute bargain at £8.8 million.
Everton, in reality, could do with bringing in more than one new central defender and therefore a cheaper option needs to be brought in.
Juanpe fits that role perfectly and Everton would be wise to bring him in.
Matthijs De Ligt signing would be huge Everton coup and Mino Raiola makes it possible
The Ajax teenager is wanted by Everton and his new agent could play a key role.
It appears Everton are the latest team hoping to bring Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt to the Premier League. The Telegraph reported yesterday that the Toffees are hoping to bring the Dutch teenager to the Premier League to help in their centre-back revamp.
De Ligt has been linked with the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City and even Barcelona this summer, so is clearly a highly-rated talent. With good reason as well. The Ajax star is already a full international at just 18 and has been favourably compared to Dutch legend and former Everton manager Ronald Koeman in playing style.
Valued at £50 million his arrival would be a game changer for Everton. Better than former player John Stones at this age, he would represent one of the biggest but boldest investments in the club’s history.
Is it possible?
The thing is, the deal could actually have legs.
De Ligt is now represented by Italian agent Mino Raiola. More famous for representing the likes of Mario Balotelli and Paul Pogba, the superstar agent actually has huge links with Dutch football.
One of those links is with new Everton director of football Marcel Brands. The pair have a strong working relationship and Sky Sports reported that the pair may work together to bring in some of the best talent at Goodison Park.
Raiola has a good relationship with Everton, appreciating the way they handled his client Romelu Lukaku’s career.
Meanwhile, despite City and Tottenham being keen on De Ligt the agent has a strained relationship with Pep Guardiola and reports suggest the same about Daniel Levy.
Sure enough if Everton did sign De Ligt the agent will be actively looking to take him elsewhere at a huge profit but it is in his best interests if the teenager makes his first move to a team like Everton.
As for De Ligt, it also makes sense, alleviating the pressure of immediately joining a Champions League side.
His signing would be a game changer and, the more you look at it, the more likely it becomes a possibility.
