Everton fans have been raving about the performance of midfielder Tom Davies in this evening’s clash with Sheffield United.
The Toffees won 1-0 against the Blades in what was a drab fixture in the rain at Bramall Lane.
Not many players from either team impressed significantly but for Everton, midfielder Davies certainly looked the part.
The 22-year-old slotted in nicely alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure and put in a fine display. Davies was smart with his passing, strong in the tackle, and rarely gave possession away in a strong display.
Everton fans have often been critical of the England under-21 star. He was given considerable criticism after giving away a reckless penalty against Arsenal in his previous Premier League outing.
Davies often lets games pass him by but in the absence of Allan he stood tall before coming off for Andre Gomes with a quarter of the game remaining.
It was a strong performance for a player who has often found himself the target of Evertonian ire. Hopefully, it is just the start of an extended period of good form for the midfield talent.
Been question marks over what kind of midfielder Tom Davies actually is. Think he’s shown what he can be tonight he’s bossed the middle of the park so far #EFC

Davies looking comfortable on the ball. Nobody else seems to be able to find a blue shirt. Need to change the pace of the game or we will not create any chances. #efc

Probably going how we expected but got sloppy at the end of the half. We need to make better decisions in the final third, just run out of ideas once we get there. Davies has been brilliant though. #EFC

Let this be the day when Tom Davies has risen from the dead. Resurrected after being nailed to a skateboard by the raging blues. Redemption is coming.

Tom Davies has finally discovered the type of midfielder he wants to be and you can see it falling into place for him with his performances. He’s played well recently and with confidence too
