Everton fans have taken to social media to praise the club for their statement on the European Super League, which six Premier League teams have agreed to compete in.

The club issued a message on their official club website strongly condemning a European Super League, with the Everton board urging clubs that are competing in the proposed competition to reconsider their decision and to withdraw from proposals that have the potential to change the fabric of football in both England and on the continent forever.

Backlash has been fierce since the ‘Big Six’ Premier League teams all announced on Sunday night that they have agreed to compete in a closed-league European competition separate from the UEFA Champions League, and Everton fans on social media have praised the club for their response to the proposals.
