The Liverpool Echo has claimed that Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin could be ruled out until 2021 with an Achilles injury.

The 2019 recruit has endured rotten luck with injuries since his arrival and the tunnel is showing no signs of bearing any light.

The defence-minded midfielder has managed just 135 minutes of football since a £25 million transfer from Mainz.

His unfortunate luck with fitness problems continued when he picked up an Achilles injury in training.

He is no closer to earning a chance to shine under Carlo Ancelotti and he could now be out until next year.

The Ivory Coast international would likely be way down the pecking order, with Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan arriving in the summer.

At 25 though he does have plenty of time on his side but he will be itching to get back on the pitch to impress the Italian boss.

Following news of this latest setback, supporters have been reacting on Twitter to the misfortune of Everton’s forgotten man.

Here is a selection of Tweets from supporters as Gbamin could be out for a few more months.
