Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Wigan Athletic defender Antonee Robinson – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have reacted positively to the speculation they are in pursuit of their former player.

Sky Sports claims that the Toffees and Fulham have entered the chase to sign him alongside Sheffield United.

The report explains that Wigan have accepted a £2million offer from Sheffield United for the left-back, but the late interest from Everton and Fulham have held up the move.

Robinson is one of the players Wigan are looking to sell as they are in administration and he only joined them on a permanent basis last summer.

The left-footed full-back is a product of the Everton academy and spent time out on loan from Goodison Park, before impressing for Wigan in the Championship last season despite the club dropping down to League One.

He is being eyed by Carlo Ancelotti’s side to replace recently injured Leighton Baines and provide a back-up option for Frenchman Lucas Digne in the full-back area.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media have responded to the recent speculation regarding the Wigan defender and feel he could be a bargain signing for their squad, which is hard to argue with at a fee of just £2million.
