Everton fans react to reported interest in Abdoulaye Doucoure
Everton are reportedly interested in signing Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure – and the speculation has received a positive response from some of the Toffees fanbase on Twitter.
The Daily Mirror claims that Everton are looking once again to try sign the Frenchman, after previously having a £40million bid for him turned down in the previous summer transfer window.
It is explained that Watford face a fight to try keep hold of their prized assets following relegation to the Championship, with Arsenal also mentioned as interested suitors for the 27-year-old.
Doucoure ended up fighting a losing battle in the 2019/20 season during Watford’s Premier League relegation, but was one of the more impressive individuals to perform consistently at Vicarage Road.
He is a midfield colossus that has a real presence in the centre of the park due to his strength and turn of pace, which has seen him suit English football perfectly.
Everton are once again linked with the Watford man and they previously had great success when signing Richarlison from the London club.
With Watford preparing for life in the Championship, it’s going to be interesting to see where Doucoure ends up playing his football.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media believe he’s the type of presence needed in Carlo Ancelotti’s team, as they slumped to a 12th-placed finish in the league and looked lightweight in midfield.
One fan made a comparison between Doucoure and ex-Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye, who was a fan favourite at Goodison Park before his move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Here are some Everton fans discussing Doucoure:
don’t get why Evertonians are not excited by this – he’d transform us!

Would be happy if we got him personally box to box midfielder, powerful, quick, good age. I’d take him all day walks in our starting 11

I think he’s a good player, but amongst the fanbase I think he’s Marmite. There’s no in-between with peoples view on him.
