Everton midfielder Andre Gomes is reportedly facing a long injury absence – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are extremely frustrated with the news.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Portugal international will be unavailable at the weekend for the Premier League fixture against Manchester City.
It is understood that an ongoing rib problem will keep him out on Saturday, but they are assessing him day-by-day.
The report explains that there are concerns he could out until mid-October due to the injury.
Gomes picked up the injury against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 1 September and has had to watch fro the sidelines since.
He’s missed back-to-back Premier League defeats to Bournemouth and Sheffield United, as well as the Carabao Cup win over Championship opposition Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old is a regular in Marco Silva’s team when available and his absence is likely to be felt against reigning English champions Manchester City.
A selection of Everton supporters on social media are not pleased with the news about Gomes.
It’s been unclear on how severe the central midfielder’s injury really is and it looks like it could be quite a serious one.
The deep-lying playmaker leaves a notable gap in the team when he’s absent and they miss his composure in possession.
Here are some fans reacting to the Gomes reported update:
