Everton fans react to Nathan Patterson reports
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Mirror claiming that the Toffees have made a £5 million bid for Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson.
The Toffees are looking to strengthen their right-back options before the deadline passes.
Of course, Seamus Coleman remains a key figure at Goodison Park. But he turns 33 later this year. And they do lack depth beyond their captain.
It appears that Patterson is the player that they want to come in and provide competition for Coleman.
According to the Daily Mirror, Everton have made a £5 million bid for the Gers starlet. And it is claimed that they are hopeful of getting the 19-year-old.
It must be noted that Steven Gerrard branded a £5 million offer for Patterson a joke when asked about the reports. So it would appear that Everton will have to be prepared to increase their bid.
It does seem that Toffees fans are hoping that that does not mark the end of their interest in Patterson.
‘Very high potential’: Everton fans react to Nathan Patterson bid reports
Obviously, he is yet to establish himself as a regular in the Rangers side. But that is largely down to the brilliance of James Tavernier.
And many believe that he has an incredibly bright future ahead. So they have implored the Toffees to make a fresh move before the deadline passes.
With that in mind, here is how some of the Everton fans have reacted to the bid reports…
Have heard he was benched today due to the bid coming in and have spoken with a Scottish mate who said he is really good, very high potential

Interesting. Watched Patterson a fair bit last season. Solid without doing anything spectacular. Glad to see Everton searching Scotland. Don’t think Patterson would start ahead of Coleman atm. Right back option needs to be ‘ready day one’ #EFC https://t.co/i8WAd4lY7B

Be a v good signing long term. Whether he’s the here and now up for debate but certainly ready to play.

Isn’t this what people gave banged the drum for ? . We would be signing a player with potential. a couple of good seasons in the premier league and he would be worth considerably more than we paid for him

Good player Patterson. Hope it happens but Tierney was quite a bit ahead of him at the same age #EFC
