Everton fans react to Michael Keane’s performance in EFL Cup exit against Leicester

Many supporters were critical of the England international against the Foxes.

Everton went out of the EFL Cup on penalties at the hands of high-flying Leicester City at Goodison Park last night.

James Maddison and Jonny Evans put the Foxes ahead but Duncan Ferguson inspired a second half comeback from his side.

Tom Davies halved the deficit before a screamer from Leighton Baines forced a penalty shoot-out for a place in the semi-finals.

But it wasn’t to be Everton’s night, as Baines and Cenk Tosun missed their spot-kicks as the Toffees missed yet another opportunity to get their hands on long-awaited silverware.

It was the performance of Michael Keane which got many Everton fans talking on Twitter after the game, with the England international getting no shortage of criticism.

He has had a poor season which has seen him lose his England place and it was another disappointing night as Jamie Vardy gave him a torrid time.

Everton are short on centre halves but many supporters want to see him out the door in the January transfer window, hoping that a new manager could reshape the club’s backline.
