Everton’s poor home record came back to bite them again on Saturday night with defeat to Aston Villa – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did at least find one positive from the individual display of Jordan Pickford.
The Toffees suffered a 2-1 loss at Goodison Park against Villa in a Premier League match, as they wasted the opportunity to climb into sixth in the table.
Ollie Watkins put the visitors ahead on Merseyside in the 13th minute, capitalising on a mistake from Ben Godfrey in defence.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin responded quickly for Everton with a towering header, but it was visitors Villa who took the three points due to Anwar El Ghazi’s curled effort in the 80th minute.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side remain eighth in the league after losing at home, and their fight to finish in the European positions is starting to become much harder.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media believe that Pickford was one standout individual from the loss.
Despite conceding twice, the 27-year-old goalkeeper was superb in net for his side and bailed them out of trouble on a number of occasions.
There was some slack defending in front of him that kept him busy throughout, but he’s an in-form shot-stopper right now that made a couple of eye-catching saves.
His position as England’s number one goalkeeper has been questioned in recent times, but his form has been excellent for his club lately.
