Everton are back to winning ways after putting three goals past Fulham at Goodison Park. The Toffees were inspired by Gylfi Sigurdsson, with the Icelandic international scoring twice to give Everton all three points on Merseyside.
But whilst the club record signing was the eye-catching performance of the day, Everton fans were far more impressed with another midfield operator.
Idrissa Gana Gueye has not been in his best form in recent months. The Senegalese international has been struggling to discover his best performances and some Everton fans were suggesting that he may have been found out.
But yesterday he was sensational in the heart of Everton’s midfield. He put in a sensational tackling performance in the heart of the Toffees midfield.

Whilst his passing game sometimes appeared off, he was immense in the ball-winning capacity and Everton were often indebted to the central midfielder winning the ball back.
It was a display that reminded Everton fans of the old Gueye, who once dominated the midfield for Everton after his move from Aston Villa.
Such a display in the heart of the Everton midfield has been missing for some time and is certainly needed for the Toffees to continue such form.
