Everton will take on Werder Bremen in the final fixture of their pre-season programme ahead of a campaign in which they will be looking to push on towards the European places.
And that means a reunion with their former midfielder Davy Klaassen, who now plays for the German outfit, having left Goodison Park in July 2018.
The BBC reported at the time that the Toffees got £12 million back for the Dutchman, who failed to make the grade at Goodison Park.
But that was likely because the shambolic duo of Ronald Koeman and Steve Walsh put together a squad with too many playmakers and too little pace – something the Everton fans appear to acknowledge.

When Klaassen took to Twitter in response to a tweet from Everton’s official account about which pre-season friendly the fans were most looking forward to, loads of Toffees replied to the Dutchman.
They are clearly keen to see him again, hold him in high regard and feel sorry for him over the way things worked out on Merseyside…
