It’s fair to say that Demarai Gray took his first chance to impress Everton supporters last night.
Impressing on debut
Gray was subbed on in the second half of Everton’s friendly against Millionarios and it did not take him long to make an impact.
Rafael Benitez deployed Everton’s latest signing in a number 10 role, where his attacking quality came to the fore.
Gray scored for Everton from the penalty spot, as he got them back into the match.
And Toffees fans were impressed by the first glimpse of their new signing.
Everton reaction
By bringing Gray in, Everton could have pulled off one of the bargains of the summer.
Everton only paid a minimal fee to sign the 24-year-old, but that rather sums up how his stock has fallen in recent times.
Gray was backed to be one of England’s brightest prospects as a teenager, but he hasn’t quite delivered as regularly as hoped in senior football.
The task for Gray will now to be to produce performances of a similar standard on a consistent basis in the Premier League.
