Everton fans react to Anthony Gordon display vs Manchester United
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to laud Anthony Gordon after the winger’s display in the draw with Manchester United on Saturday.
What’s the story?
The Toffees produced a superb performance to draw 1-1 at Old Trafford. And in truth, they could have easily walked away with all three points.
Tom Davies seemed to have a golden chance in the latter stages. But rather than shoot, he passed to Yerry Mina who scored from an offside position.
Everton played some fantastic football during the game. And it seems that plenty of fans look on the result as a missed opportunity rather than a brilliant point.
Several of their players were excellent. And one of those who has managed to impress many was Gordon.
The 20-year-old was handed his first start of the season in the Premier League. And he went on to look incredibly bright.
As shown by Whoscored, no player made a greater number of key passes than the academy graduate.
Meanwhile, he also made three successful tackles and two interceptions. In both areas, only one teammate was able to better his tally.
It does appear that some Everton supporters are yet to be fully convinced about whether Gordon is going to be good enough at Goodison.
But for many, his performance against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side was an indicator that he could have an incredibly bright future ahead.
Plenty felt that he did not look at all out of place on that stage. And they are hoping that this display is looked back upon as a big moment in his development.

Antony Gordon was playing on the biggest stage of his fledgling #EFC career and I thought he was excellent today. Looked a threat every time he had the ball and done well with his defensive duties supporting @LucasDigne Also one point better off at this stage last season. #UTFT pic.twitter.com/ZoSytfox2s

I am going to predict this season is Gordon’s break through into the squad I thought he was superb today at 1 of the toughest grounds in the world to play at plus a manager who know how to get the best out of players 👏👏

Could look back on today being a real turning point for Anthony Gordon
Think today given the chance (great to see) he’s shown he’s more than capable of stepping in, against a very very good defensive RB in AWB too
Made up for him. https://t.co/BDXst6J4fc

No complaints with that. Not one.
The very minimum Everton deserved today was one point.
Every player contributed.
Really enjoyed Anthony Gordon’s performance today, the kids got a massive future.
Well managed by Rafa today. We never really looked in any trouble.
