Andre Gomes will be suspended for Everton’s next three matches, according to the BBC.
Portuguese international midfielder Gomes was retrospectively punished for stamping on Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic during the Toffees’ 2-0 loss at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
The incident was apparently missed on the pitch at the time by referee Lee Probert but picked up on after the game, meaning that Gomes will miss matches against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Burnley.
And while it was the correct decision, some Everton fans on Twitter feel that the decision reflects the inconsistency among officials in the Premier League and the punishments handed down.
They feel that the sides higher up the Premier League appear to get the breaks on that score, and are upset that Gomes will only get the chance to play one more match of his loan spell, the final game of the campaign against Tottenham.
We’ve put together the best of the angry reaction to the announcement as these Toffee fans must hope that Gomes’ loan deal is extended or made permanent. Otherwise he’s made his final Blues appearance at Goodison Park…
I’m all for punishing players for breaking the rules, but when you see other players, mainly from the top six clubs, break the rules every week and get away with it, this three-game suspension for Andre Gomes certainly is a bit of a kick in the teeth.

Take them on and call the FAs bluff, get them to explain their inconsistencies. Probably wont get anywhere but it would it into the spotlight

Any player they risk alienating playing in the national team they will avoid taking action. If they analysed every game you would find at least something someone had done. @everton should have loads of video evidence to present of incidents other players have done and no ban

Very true. Sometimes wonder whether there is one rule for us and another rule for other clubs. Inconsistency and unfairness all the way and that is ridiculous.

Have said all season that decisions against players from top 6 are more lenient. Example Jagielka against Wolves, and Kompany against Liverpool. Seems unwritten rule among officials to let them away with more than rest of PL. Having said that Gomes deserves ban for stamp

I’ll accept it if every challenge gets the same.
Now if the @FA can please explain the difference…….
