Everton fans react to Alex Iwobi’s EFL Cup performance

Everton ensured comfortable passage to the Fourth Round of the EFL Cup with a strong win against Sheffield Wednesday. On a night where Tottenham Hotspur were stunned by League Two side Colchester United, Everton completed a professional job.

Up against Championship opposition, Everton secured a 2-0 win. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored both of Everton’s goals as Marco Silva’s rotated side made minimal fuss against the Owls.

Iwobi in the number 10 role

Alex Iwobi had an impressive game, operating in the number 10 role. Until Gylfi Sigurdsson came on in the second half, Iwobi played just behind the striker and he made things happen.

The Nigeria international provided the assist for Calvert-Lewin’s second goal. He linked up well with Bernard and rolled Calvert-Lewin in to double the Toffees’ advantage. After scoring twice in the last round against Lincoln City, Iwobi is pushing for a regular starting spot.
