Everton fans react to Ainsley Maitland-Niles links

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Daily Mail claiming that the Toffees are one of the Premier League sides to have taken an interest in Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Maitland-Niles looks set to face an uncertain future at the Emirates. He has spent the last few months on loan at West Brom.

Unfortunately, he was unable to help the Baggies beat the drop. But his performances have seemingly attracted a lot of attention heading into the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton, Manchester United, Southampton and Leeds want the 23-year-old. It is noted that the Toffees and Red Devils view Maitland-Niles as a potential right-back option.

Maitland-Niles’s desire to play in midfield would hint that a move to Goodison Park therefore, would be unlikely.

And it seems that missing out on Maitland-Niles – who earns £35,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – would divide many of the Everton fans.

Admittedly, some are not convinced that he would be a good signing. They also fear that the Toffees may end up ruing moving for another Arsenal player with Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi not managing to silence their doubters.

But others believe that he could be a inspired addition. He is a player who offers a lot of versatility and should get better in the coming years as he plays more often.
