Everton fans react on Twitter to Danny Ings interest reports
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Sunday Mirror (16/5; page 73) claiming that the Toffees are one of the teams keen on signing Danny Ings.
Ings looks to be heading towards a crucial decision in his career. As noted in the report, his contract at Southampton expires next summer.
Interestingly, the Sunday Mirror claimed that the Saints are optimistic that Ings will stay. But if he does decide to leave a number of Premier League sides are set to register an interest.
The report claimed that Everton want the 28-year-old, along with Spurs, Manchester City and West Ham. Southampton would reportedly demand £30 million for Ings if he does decide to not sign a new contract.
The England international has been a fantastic goalscorer, particularly during his time at St Mary’s. Unfortunately, he has previously struggled with injuries at times during his career.
And that is why there is a mixed reaction on social media. Most love the idea of Carlo Ancelotti’s men landing Ings. They feel that he would be an outstanding signing with Everton needing more options up front.
Those who do have concerns believe that paying £30 million would be too much. But the large majority seemingly feel that bringing him in would be a superb piece of business.
With that in mind, here is what some of the fans make of the links with Ings…
Exactly the type of striker we need, can make something out of nothing which is what we are missing. Played 38 matches last season & 27 so far this season, 36 goals. £30m of not my money well spent.

Maybe for like 15 mil, not 30

Injuries aside, which is another issue. The boy can finish from anywhere, constant threat, never let’s defenders have a moments peace and off the ball he absolutely obliterated us with his running and movement in previous games. Worth 60mil if never had injury problems imo

I’ve said for a while I’d have him but would rather see £20m + performance/achievement related clauses purely because of his age and injury history. That said, if we’re going to have to compete for his signature then we have to stump up the money outright.

Be all over that.

All day, its 20m though considering age, injuries and wages

Yes but 30m is too much for someone his age who has had injury issues

Oh yes please
